After many years in the corporate world as a Leadership, Organizational Development and Operations Executive Angie is thrilled to bring her expertise in the business world to the Yoga and Barre industry. Named one of Charlotte, NC's "Top 25 Women Business Executives" she has a deep interest in coaching and mentoring others to achieve results. She believes in the transformational power of people working together and wants to expand yoga and barre to as many people as possible. After growing up in VA and attending college and graduate school in Richmond she is excited to return to her home state to open the first Hot Yoga Barre. Her biggest passions are yoga, travel, and animals. You'll likely find her constant companion, Lulu, who was rescued a few years ago sitting behind the reception desk of The Hot Yoga Barre from time to time. Angie was classically trained in ballet and started teaching group fitness classes when she was 16. Finding yoga was initially an extension of her athletic pursuits, but it wasn't long before she realized the amazing benefits not only for the body but for the soul as well. Angie completed her RYT200 at a Baptiste studio in Asheville NC and her Barre training through The International Ballet Barre Fitness Association. She has a wandering spirit and loves to travel and explore every chance she gets!
Abbey never thought she'd be a group fitness instructor. Even though she was raised a competitive dancer and soccer player, she never enjoyed the gym or anything that felt like a workout. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Abbey started trying fitness classes around her hometown of Montclair, Virginia and fell in love with weight training. She moved to Richmond shortly after and became a BodyPump instructor. After three years of teaching, she tried a Power Yoga class at the Hot Yoga Barre and fell in love. Love led to joining the Karma Krew.
Abbey now teaches BURN where she gets to share her stellar taste in music with her ability to motivate. She believes workouts should be fun and challenging and that a little laughter never hurt anyone. When she's not teaching or working at Richmond-based startup Health Warrior Superfoods, you can find Abbey throwing the stick for her two rescue dogs.

Alli is a home-grown Wisconsinite with a stereotypical love for cheese, pontoon boats, and football. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (go Badgers!) with a BS in Human Development & Family Studies and received her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. In her professional life, Alli focuses on how the law affects family and children and hopes to one day work as an Education Law attorney.
Alli found herself at the Hot Yoga Barre initially as the first Karma Krew member in January 2016. After falling in love with the practice and the studio, Alli completed HYB’s inaugural Yoga Teacher Training in fall 2016. Alli loves to bring her [very] sarcastic sense of humor and [self-described] kick-ass taste in music to her classes and remind people that it’s just yoga - no need to take yourself so seriously! As someone who first found yoga after scouring the internet for a down-dog-less class (because it was way too hard), Alli appreciates how far one can come in their practice and looks forward to helping you find your strength, flexibility, laughter, and breath.

Charlotte is HYB’s Anatomy Instructor for Yoga Teacher Training. Combining her background in the health and medical field with her extensive yoga experience she is able to offer our community an amazing learning experience about the anatomical structure of the human body. Charlotte’s training is a great blend of classical alignment principles with the movement of a powerful flow.
Charlotte began her yoga practice with a private Iyengar teacher in 2008 and practiced Iyengar for several years before finding a passion for Vinyasa flow. She chose to become certified in the latter, but incorporates the Iyengar alignment training into her Vinyasa style classes. She likes to practice yoga that makes her sweat! She likes to flow, but also likes to pause and hold poses for longer periods of time. Her focus is on building a balance of strength and flexibility while changing things up and keeping things new and exciting. When she sweats through sun salutations or breathes in savasana, all she can think about it the present. Yoga gives her a sense of purpose without a sense of urgency, and makes her feel both calm and energized. It reminds her to be grateful for the body she lives inside every day. Yoga is the gift she gives herself – and it costs her nothing except a little commitment. Her greatest purpose is to give that gift to others.

Kailey was born and raised in RVA where she fell in love with dancing at a young age, trying out every style of dance she could: hip hop, ballet, modern, jazz, pointe, and even aerial silks. After joining a gym, she realized that teaching group exercise was the perfect combination of her favorite things: being active and helping others. She became certified in Zumba, and began teaching at the age of 18. Her love of group exercise grew and she soon discovered that Barre was that extra dance-related exercise she had been looking for. So, she added it to her resume along with an AFAA Group Exercise certification. She loves that no matter how many times you have done a Barre class; you can still get your muscles shaking! When not teaching exercise, you can find Kailey exploring downtown RVA, teaching art to children, volunteering at her church, and finishing up her last year of her bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in psychology and crisis counseling. She is so excited to be a part of the Hot Yoga Barre team and is ready to encourage others to raise the Bar(re) and exceed their expectations of themselves!
Kathryn moved to RVA from St. Louis, MO for work. She moved to Richmond not knowing anyone, but knew she could find a place of comfort through yoga. Within her first month of living in RVA she found The Hot Yoga Barre and was immediately drawn to the positive energy and quickly found a new home away from home.
Kathryn has been practicing hot yoga since 2010. At first yoga served as an intense workout and challenge, but soon it became a way of living. As her practice deepened so did the meaning of yoga. Kathryn's practice picked up in college as it served as a source of healing mentally and physically. Her life was changed by yoga and the wonderful instructors that guided her towards self-awareness and mindfulness. To say the least she found a passion that set her soul on fire (not just from the heated studio)! After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Movement Science and minor in Biomedical Sciences she pursued her dream of becoming a yoga teacher. She completed her 200-hr RYT with Sumits Hot Yoga.
Kathryn believes listening to what your mind, body, and soul need on your mat will only transpire into kindness and compassion off of your mat. She is thrilled to be a part of the HYB team, and looks forward to sharing all of the goodness that yoga has to offer!

Lulu has graced us with her elegant presence at the desk since we opened back in May of 2015. A loyal Weimaraner, she is happy to show you how to sign in at the iPad, and will gladly take her seat right outside the studio door to offer you moral support throughout class. She appreciates our hands-on approach and welcomes pets and cuddles (though requests you avoid her sensitive paws). We are thrilled to have her as our studio mascot and look forward to having her lead various YTT modules in the near future, helping teachers-to-be truly master their Downward Facing Dog.

Meg is a senior at University of Richmond where she is studying biochemistry and religion on a pre-med track. She has been practicing yoga for as long as she can remember thanks to her grandmother, who has had a daily practice for decades and brought Meg on her first yoga retreat at Kripalu when she was 8! Yoga continued to play a huge role in her life throughout high school when she began to understand the benefits of her practice, both mental and physical. When she moved to Richmond for college, Meg started looking for a yoga studio and found HYB which quickly became her second home. She jumped right into her role as an intern, Karma Krew member, and yoga teacher trainee.
Meg loves to combine her love for yoga with her knowledge and interest in anatomy and physiology, which she hopes to incorporate into her future as a doctor. Meg is so excited to show her students how transformative yoga can be for them, as it has been for her. She can’t wait to flow (and probably giggle, sing, and dance) with you on your mat!
