Backbends can be simultaneously the most challenging and satisfying asanas of our practice. In a typical yoga class, backbends are often situated just after the standing series and just before the seated series, leaving little time (or energy!) to explore all of the strengths and weaknesses these demanding poses have to offer.
In this two-hour workshop open to all levels, you will be guided through a spine-awakening warm up, followed by workshopping empowering poses to help strengthen your whole spine and core, increase flexibility in your shoulders and quadriceps, and open your heart. Leaving the muscle behind, we will end the workshop with a restorative and spine-focused yin practice that helps you calm your mind and your breath and restore your spine back to neutral. Come learn not only how to make backbends accessible for your body, but also how to strengthen your spine, increase your flexibility, and control your mind and breath to get the most out of your backbends!

Are you an athlete looking to improve your game and loosen your muscles? Whether it’s tennis, golf, biking, running, or something else, come learn how yoga can help to improve your overall athletic performance. In this workshop you’ll learn how yoga can help to keep you in peak condition for your next match or long ride by diving into common injuries and poses that can help keep you from being sidelined. We’ll break down poses that can be particularly challenging for performance athletes and see how props can help to make these poses more accessible. You’ll gain lots of knowledge that you can take with you and then we’ll stretch you out with our slow flow relaxation class focusing on hamstrings, lower back and shoulder poses. Rise up to the next level of performance with this workshop!

Sink into a shape and just let go with this 90-minute restorative experience. Listen to soothing music in the glow of candlelight while your body releases built up muscular and emotional tension. You’ll drop into a state of ease while we bliss out in restorative yoga poses. We’ll pair this dreamy practice with essential oils, breath work, and meditation capped off with Yoga Nidra led by Dudley. While you melt into your mat, hands on massages will be offered by Abbey Davis, Certified Massage Therapist.

Join The Hot Yoga Barre for a morning of tucking, pulsing, and enjoying the beauty of Upper Shirley Vineyards! Dudley will lead you through a fun, forty-five minute barre class on the covered porch and then we invite you to stay and join us in the tasting room for wine and lunch!

Imagine waking up in a stunningly beautiful suite, hitting your mat for a mind + body workout in the tropical gardens, spending the day lounging by the pool or at the beach, exploring the majesty of the island, and then sharing a deliciously healthy meal under the stars before you head out on the town to one of Bali’s hotspots (or hey, head to bed in the lap of luxury)! Yin and acupuncture are a match made in relaxation heaven! Explore how these two ancient eastern practices work together to move energy and life force through your body. This workshop is a great, affordable way to combine two restorative and healing modalities into one blissful session and learn how traditional Chinese medicine and yoga work together to release tension, create ease in the body, and promote overall well being.
Yin Yoga naturally draws the mind inward to a relaxed state where posture, breathing, and thought patterns are highlighted. Yin postures are held for 3-5 minutes to stimulate connective tissue and energetic meridians. Yin yoga increases the strength of meridians, which can help increase or better distribute the amount of chi in the body.
Acupuncture is a holistic practice of natural medicine originating in East Asia several thousands of years ago. Using tiny, hair-thin needles, specific points are stimulated, signaling the central nervous system to send attention to parts of the body which are out of balance and in a state of pain or disease. In addition to improvement in unique symptoms, immediate results from an acupuncture treatment often include reduction in inflammation causing both physical discomfort and emotional symptoms such as anxiety, as well as deep levels of relaxation due to a powerful increase in parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest”) function leading to better sleep and improved immunity.
Dudley will lead you through an hour of slow and mindful movement focusing on breath work to begin the process of moving energy in your body. Once you arrive in your final resting pose in savasana, a licensed acupuncturist, Corrine Gutierrez, will perform a community auricular (ear) acupuncture experience. As you rest, the acupuncture will do its work. You'll leave class feeling grounded, connected and blissed out.
Grab your BOO and bring him or her to the Barre for some partner fun! Dudley will be toning, sculpting, and jamming out to some fun tunes. Stick around for Champagne after class.
