Growing up in Silver Spring, Maryland, Sophie first discovered her love of movement through dance. She trained in classical ballet with the Maryland Youth Ballet until high school when she started to focus more on contemporary dance with the City Dance Conservatory. Sophie graduated from the University of Maryland in 2015 with a B.A. in psychology and received her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in May 2018. Although she took a few yoga classes here and there during college, it was during her first year of law school that she began to practice yoga regularly. Sophie found the Hot Yoga Barre in the spring of 2017 and has been hooked ever since. She first joined the HYB team as a member of Karma Krew and completed her 200 YTT with HYB in May 2018.
Initially attracted to the physical aspects of yoga, Sophie loves practicing inversions and arm balances. However, as her yoga journey progressed, she has encountered yoga’s many benefits off the mat and loves learning more about the emotional, spiritual, and healing aspects of yoga. Yoga provides Sophie with calmness, balance, and stability and she can’t wait to provide her students with a space to find out what yoga can offer them!
