WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER DONE YOGA OR BARRE PREVIOUSLY?

We offer a variety of classes that are great for beginners and advanced students. Our instructors offer both advanced options and modifications for postures throughout the class.

WHAT ARE THE BEST CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS?

All Barre and BURN classes can be modified for all levels. We recommend Slow Flow Yoga if it’s your first time doing yoga, but you are welcome to hop into a Power Yoga class and follow along. The more often you come, the more comfortable you will feel! Save Flow Yoga for when you’ve taken at least 10 yoga classes!

I’M NOT FLEXIBLE, IS THIS THE RIGHT EXERCISE FOR ME?

It couldn’t be more right for you! There is a common misconception that yoga is only for flexible people. Yoga isn’t about how flexible you are right now; it’s about increasing your range of motion so that you can continue to be strong and mobile in the future. If you're not flexible, the benefits of doing yoga and Barre in Far Infrared Heat are tremendous. The internal heat that your body generates along with the infrared penetration will help make those short, tight muscles long, strong and pliable.

I DON'T LIKE THE HEAT, WILL I PASS OUT?

We haven’t lost one yet! Seriously though, a lot of people often have a negative reaction when they initially hear of exercising in the heat, but once they try it, they’re hooked. We recommend coming to a minimum of 5 classes in a two week period so that you can get the full experience as the heat sometimes takes a little getting used to. We heat the studio with Far Infrared Panels and it is much different than most hot yoga studios! Classes are heated to around 98-100 degrees.

BENEFITS OF HEAT

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME?

To get the most benefit we recommend (especially in the beginning) that you come as much as you can. Some people strive to come every day for the first month, but if you can come 3-4 times a week initially, you will see marked improvements in your overall well-being as well as notable physical changes.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING CLASS?

Your teacher will set up the exercises and then circulate the room, correcting form to help you get the most out of your time. The room is HOT, be prepared to sweat and have an intense class. It’s normal to experience a light-headed, nauseous and/or dizzy feeling the first few times in the room. Should you feel any of the above, we suggest lying down on your mat, take a few deep breathes to slow down and reconnect.

IS THIS BIKRAM YOGA?

No. Bikram Yoga is just one style of hot yoga. Bikram is a practice of 26 postures done in a specific sequence in a strict environment. Our hot classes combine the best elements from many different styles of yoga in order to give your mind and body the best workout possible! Our instructors believe in creating a fun community based environment that awakens the mind, body, and spirit.

HOW MANY CALORIES DO I BURN DURING A CLASS?

It is estimated that you can burn between 600-1200 calories in a 60-75 minute heated workout. The number of calories each person burns will vary based on age, weight, gender, and the intensity of the workout.

WHAT ARE THE MENTAL/SPIRITUAL BENEFITS?

Although we strongly believe in the spiritual and mental benefits of yoga, you won’t find this forced on you in our studio. We want to create a welcoming environment where all realms of spirituality are embraced. The goal of yoga is to quiet the distractions of the mind. With our classes, the mind and body relax so that you can relieve stress and achieve clarity and balance. What you do with that increased clarity is up to you.

CAN MEN TAKE CLASSES?

Absolutely, we are a studio for everyone and we offer a variety of awesome classes that men will love! If you are an athlete, runner, or golfer - yoga is a great complement and can help you improve!

Try our BURN class... it is intense!

I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY BACK, KNEES, AND/OR HIPS. CAN I PARTICIPATE?

Generally speaking, Yoga and Barre are great for people with skeletal and joint issues if you listen to your body and work to your own abilities. The combination of the Far Infrared heat and postures will help to strengthen the muscles around your bones and joints to give you more support and help in healing your body. As always, if you have any concerns please consult with your physician.
